American Express OptBlue Program

To Our Valued Merchants,

In just 30 days, you’ll be able to reach a wealth of high-spending customers.

How? We’re helping open your doors to a loyal new group of consumer, small business and corporate Card Members—shoppers who represent over 50 million Cards in the U.S.—simply by enabling your current terminal to accept the American Express® Card.

And all you have to do is take the first transaction—with that one simple swipe, you’re agreeing to the terms in this notice and you’ll be able to accept American Express through the same process as your other cards.

You could see more customers who have been shown to spend more.

American Express is a single, simple way to connect to the kind of customers you want. Just take a look at their spending habits:

• American Express Card Members report spending on average 25% more than non-Card Members per transaction at small merchants.1
• American Express Card Members report spending an average of $510 at small merchants in one month compared to $314 reported by non-Card Members.2
•American Express Card Members report making an average of 112 business-related purchases from small merchants in the past month, compared to 13 such purchases for non-Card Members.1

Here’s how you get their attention.
If you want to welcome American Express Card Members, you need to let them know you take the Card. The first crucial step: place decals in your window or at your register. You can request decals and other point-of-purchase materials, such as American Express invoice labels, push/pull signs, and get an American Express logo for your website at 800-555-9665. One other crucial step: tell your employees to tell your customers you now accept the Card.

Here’s how it works.
Again, we’ll enable your business to accept the Card within 30 days of today. And all you have to do is take the first transaction—with that one simple swipe, you’re agreeing to the terms in this notice and you’ll be able to accept American Express through the same process as your other cards.

The processing terms will follow the Merchant Processing Agreement we’ve already established, and the processing rates are: qualified transactions-1.90% plus $0.28 cents, mid-qualified transactions-2.40% plus $0.28 cents (Dialpay-2.65% plus $0.50) and non-qualified transactions–3.50% plus $0.28 cents (Dialpay-3.09% plus $0.50). Network fees are 0.00017(%) of Card Brand volume.

If you don’t want to accept American Express cards, you can opt-out without penalty at any time, just email us at info@umpa-us.com. Include your name, business name and that you wish not to participate.

We’re excited to help bring additional, high-spending customers to your door. We hope you’ll participate, and as always, we thank you for your partnership.
